When he was offered the chance to become an assistant principal at Dedham High School, Jim Forrest was placed in a difficult position. After losing to the Central/West team 5-2 in the round-robin portion of the Bay State Games girls ice hockey tournament, the Southeast/Coastal team was inevitably a little uneasy about playing them the next day in the gold medal game. The fears ended up justified as they fell to three-time defending champion Central/West team 4-2, settling for the silver medal Friday at the New England Sports Center in Marlborough.

For all the would’ve, could’ve and should’ves for the Norwood American Legion Post 70 baseball team this summer, one thing that never could be questioned was their resolve.
Although the Southeast boys lacrosse team at the Bay State Games wore white jerseys, any spectator could tell the team had a Norwood flair with the number of blue and yellow helmets.
Weather has postponed tonight’s scheduled District 6 playoff game between Norwood Post 70 and Milton Post 114 at the Balch Elementary School’s Peter Wall Field. Game 2 will now be played Thursday night at 8 p.m. at Wall Field, with a possible Game 3 Friday at Milton’s Cunningham Park. Rain also wiped out the District 11 Little League slate at the Norwood Little Complex. Quarterfinal and semifinal action will be pushed back to Thursday and Friday, with the final tentative scheduled for Saturday at noon.
